Explosion Caused Death in Some Parts of Gedo Region in Southern Somalia
Written by Mohamed Omar Hussein
Saturday, 05 July 2008

Nairobi, (insidesomalia.org) - A huge explosion rocked in village which comes under El-Wak town in Gedo region in far southern Somalia and as par the extent known two people are confirmed dead.

The actual point where the incident occurred is a tiny village which falls between Gosarey and Inda El villages which all come under El-Wak District bordering the Kenya town of El-Wak as well

"It is widely believed that these two men who died in the aftermath of the explosion died after they lit fire in a place where there was a rust grenade and instantly the bomb went off and killed the two cattle herders.

The bomb is believed to be one of the remainders which were left in the area during inter clan battles which have wrecked Somalia for the past 17 years, including the most recent ones in the region between the Al-Ithad and the SNF militiamen.

There are no other casualties caused by that explosion apart from those two people who have deceased.

The two men who passed away in the blast are said to be cousins, and were buried at Dudale location in the Gedo region. So far there is no comment from the El-Wak district administration regarding about the death of these two men.
